SEAT Service History Check — £4.99

Check a SEAT's service history online by registration for £4.99. The check pulls the digital service records SEAT's Digital Service Schedule (DSS) holds for the car — every logged service with its date, mileage, dealer and work done — usually within 10 minutes, and emails you the result with the manufacturer's PDF.

Most results arrive within 10 minutes; some manufacturers take up to 48 hours. Emailed to you as a PDF. No subscription needed.

Before you pay we confirm the manufacturer is one we can retrieve records for. Charged per search: the fee applies whether or not records are found.

Best results: SEAT introduced its Digital Service Schedule (DSS) in the UK around 2013, so records are most complete for SEAT vehicles from 2013 onwards that have been serviced by a franchised SEAT dealer. Earlier services may only be in the paper book.

How SEAT records service history

SEAT records servicing in its Digital Service Schedule (DSS), which replaced the stamped paper service book for UK cars from around 2013. Each time a franchised SEAT dealer services the car, the date, mileage and work done are written to the manufacturer's central record for that vehicle rather than a book kept in the glovebox.

Owners can see it in the My SEAT app for their own car.

Typical service interval: every 12 months or 10,000 miles on the fixed schedule, up to two years or about 18,600 miles on the flexible schedule. A record that skips an interval is worth asking about.

  • SEAT uses the Volkswagen Group DSS: ODIS-licensed independent garages write into the same record as a dealer.
  • Paper books ran alongside the DSS in the early years; older SEATs may have early services in the book only.

What a SEAT service history check shows

The check asks SEAT's dealer network for the digital records held against the registration and returns every entry it holds:

  • The date of each service or repair and the mileage at the time
  • The type of service (scheduled service, oil service, inspection, repair) and the work carried out
  • The dealer or workshop that logged it
  • The manufacturer's own PDF where SEAT supplies one

You do not need to own the car, know the VIN or ask the seller: the registration is enough. The result stays available online for six months and is emailed to you.

What a SEAT service history report looks like

An illustrative example: every entry the manufacturer's dealer network holds is listed with its date, mileage, the type of service, the work carried out and the dealer that logged it. The vehicle and entries below are invented to show the layout; a real report contains only what SEAT's system returns for the registration you enter.

Example vehicle: 2018 five-door hatchback, 1.5 petrol, 47,210 miles at the last MOT. Five records found.

  • Reading it: mileages rise steadily and the gaps are about a year apart, which matches an annual schedule. The 2022 entry is a repair, not a service, so the interval between the third and fourth services is a little over two years — worth asking about.
  • Where the manufacturer supplies its own PDF, it is attached to your email alongside this table. Reports stay available online for six months.
  • A report with no records looks like this table with no rows and a clear statement that the manufacturer holds no digital entries; see what that means.

Reading a SEAT service record

  • Mileages should rise steadily. A reading lower than the one before points to a clocking or a data-entry error; compare with the MOT mileages on a free MOT check.
  • Gaps between entries. SEAT's schedule is every 12 months or 10,000 miles on the fixed schedule, up to two years or about 18,600 miles on the flexible schedule; a longer gap usually means an independent garage did the work, which only appears if that garage uploaded it. Ask for invoices.
  • Nothing before 2013. Earlier services may sit in a paper book or an older system that was never transferred.
  • No records at all. Not the same as no service history — but treat a claimed "full SEAT main-dealer history" with no digital entries as a red flag and ask the seller to explain it.

Secure card payment. The fee is per search and applies whether or not records are found.

  4. 4

    Wait for SEAT

The request goes to SEAT's dealer network (Digital Service Schedule (DSS)). Most come back within 10 minutes; some take up to 48 hours. The page updates itself and the email arrives when the records do.

  5. 5

    Read the records

Each entry shows the date, mileage, service type, work done and dealer. Compare the mileages with the MOT record and the intervals with SEAT's schedule.
