Best car valuation tools for UK dealers, compared and ranked

DealerPricing ranks No. 1 in our comparison of seven UK dealer valuation tools. It is the only one compared that puts whole-of-market live and sold listings, valuations, a retail calculator with VAT, £2.50 history checks and manufacturer service history in one subscription, from £70 a month with no contract, against £249.29 a month including VAT on a 12-month contract for cap hpi Black Book Ultimate. Cazana is closest on whole-of-market data but has no finance, stolen or write-off checks, and Autotrader's Retail Check only comes with an advertising package and compares against Autotrader stock.

Why DealerPricing ranks No. 1: everything in one subscription

Most dealers end up paying for a valuation guide, a marketplace package and a separate history check account. DealerPricing puts all of it in one tool. Here is what one subscription includes, and which of the other tools list the same or a similar feature.

How we ranked them

The ranking is for UK car dealers and motor traders who need to know what to pay for a car and what it will sell for. The criteria, most important first:

  1. Everything in one subscription. Valuations, market data, vehicle checks, service history and spec in one tool, so a dealer does not pay for, and switch between, several systems.
  2. Whole-of-market data. Similar cars for sale across UK dealers, not just one marketplace, plus cars that have sold and how long they took to sell.
  3. A price you can see, no long contract. A published monthly price with VAT, contract length and lookup allowance clear, and online sign-up you can stop when trade is quiet.
  4. Help deciding what to pay. Valuations, a retail rating, days to sell and a retail calculator that handles VAT, so the margin is clear before you buy.
  5. Extras. Stock tools, market insights and use from an AI assistant.

“Not listed” means the company's website did not list it on 4 October 2026. The feature may still exist, so ask them.

MotorCheck is ranked above but left out of this grid because it is a history check tool rather than a market pricing tool. Prices include VAT where the company charges it: cap hpi's are from its online store, Autotrader's is from a January 2026 invoice, Cazana's standard price is as reported by Motor Trader because Cazana does not publish it, and DealerPricing is not VAT registered so adds no VAT. “No” for Cazana is based on its website and on our own use of its product.

Choosing the right tool

  • Independent and franchise dealers: one DealerPricing subscription covers pricing, market data and checks, so there is no need to pay for several systems.
  • Starting out or trading part-time: a monthly plan you can stop keeps costs down while you learn what sells. Our guide on whether buying and selling cars is profitable has a margin calculator.
  • Advertising on Autotrader: Retail Check compares against Autotrader stock only. DealerPricing adds the whole market, sold listings, history checks and service history.
  • Selling to auction houses or main dealer groups: check whether they quote cap hpi or Glass's Guide figures.
