How Audi records service history
Audi records servicing in its Digital Service Schedule (DSS), which replaced the stamped paper service book for UK cars from around 2013. Each time a franchised Audi dealer services the car, the date, mileage and work done are written to the manufacturer's central record for that vehicle rather than a book kept in the glovebox.
Owners can see the DSS in the myAudi app once an Audi dealer has verified them in person with the V5C and photo ID; buyers cannot look up a car they do not own that way.
Typical service interval: every 12 months or 10,000 miles on the fixed schedule, up to two years or about 18,600 miles on the flexible (LongLife) schedule. A record that skips an interval is worth asking about.
- Audi uses the Volkswagen Group DSS, and independent garages with the group's ODIS diagnostic licence write into the same record as a dealer, so a gap in an Audi DSS is a stronger warning sign than for brands where independent work never appears.
- Paper books ran alongside the DSS for the first few years; cars built before about 2016 may have early services in the book only.

- Reading it: mileages rise steadily and the gaps are about a year apart, which matches an annual schedule. The 2022 entry is a repair, not a service, so the interval between the third and fourth services is a little over two years — worth asking about.
- Where the manufacturer supplies its own PDF, it is attached to your email alongside this table. Reports stay available online for six months.
- A report with no records looks like this table with no rows and a clear statement that the manufacturer holds no digital entries; see what that means.
Reading an Audi service record
- Mileages should rise steadily. A reading lower than the one before points to a clocking or a data-entry error; compare with the MOT mileages on a free MOT check.
- Gaps between entries. Audi's schedule is every 12 months or 10,000 miles on the fixed schedule, up to two years or about 18,600 miles on the flexible (LongLife) schedule; a longer gap usually means an independent garage did the work, which only appears if that garage uploaded it. Ask for invoices.
- Nothing before 2013. Earlier services may sit in a paper book or an older system that was never transferred.
- No records at all. Not the same as no service history — but treat a claimed "full Audi main-dealer history" with no digital entries as a red flag and ask the seller to explain it.
