How Mazda records service history
Mazda records servicing in its Digital Service Record (DSR), which replaced the stamped paper service book for UK cars from around 2005. Each time a franchised Mazda dealer services the car, the date, mileage and work done are written to the manufacturer's central record for that vehicle rather than a book kept in the glovebox.

Typical service interval: every 12 months or 12,500 miles (10,000 miles for the Mazda2 Hybrid). A record that skips an interval is worth asking about.
- Mazda launched its DSR in 2005 and says it was the first UK manufacturer to go paperless, so even quite old Mazdas can have a complete digital record.
- Only authorised Mazda service centres update the DSR; independent servicing does not appear.
What a Mazda service history check shows
The check asks Mazda's dealer network for the digital records held against the registration and returns every entry it holds:
- The date of each service or repair and the mileage at the time
- The type of service (scheduled service, oil service, inspection, repair) and the work carried out
- The dealer or workshop that logged it

- Reading it: mileages rise steadily and the gaps are about a year apart, which matches an annual schedule. The 2022 entry is a repair, not a service, so the interval between the third and fourth services is a little over two years — worth asking about.
- Where the manufacturer supplies its own PDF, it is attached to your email alongside this table. Reports stay available online for six months.
- A report with no records looks like this table with no rows and a clear statement that the manufacturer holds no digital entries; see what that means.
Reading a Mazda service record
- Mileages should rise steadily. A reading lower than the one before points to a clocking or a data-entry error; compare with the MOT mileages on a free MOT check.
- Gaps between entries. Mazda's schedule is every 12 months or 12,500 miles (10,000 miles for the Mazda2 Hybrid); a longer gap usually means an independent garage did the work, which only appears if that garage uploaded it. Ask for invoices.
- Nothing before 2005. Earlier services may sit in a paper book or an older system that was never transferred.
- No records at all. Not the same as no service history — but treat a claimed "full Mazda main-dealer history" with no digital entries as a red flag and ask the seller to explain it.
