Each time a franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer services the car, the date, mileage and work done are written to the manufacturer's central record for that vehicle rather than a book kept in the glovebox.
Owners can see the DSB on the Mercedes me website (My Car → Service History); it is not fully shown in the Mercedes me app, which is a common reason owners think their history is missing.
Typical service interval: ASSYST Plus: every 12 months or 15,500 miles (12,500 miles on AMG models); older ASSYST cars alternate A and B services. A record that skips an interval is worth asking about.
- Mercedes-Benz calls it the Digital Service Booklet (some older material says Digital Service Report); smart cars use the same system.
- Mercedes-Benz introduced the DSB from 2007 (E-Class and CLS) and across its passenger cars in 2008, so even older cars can have a complete digital record.
- Independent garages can record services in the DSB through Mercedes-Benz's free B2B Connect portal, so a good independent's work often does appear; ask whether they upload before assuming a gap means a missed service.

- Reading it: mileages rise steadily and the gaps are about a year apart, which matches an annual schedule. The 2022 entry is a repair, not a service, so the interval between the third and fourth services is a little over two years — worth asking about.
- Where the manufacturer supplies its own PDF, it is attached to your email alongside this table. Reports stay available online for six months.
- A report with no records looks like this table with no rows and a clear statement that the manufacturer holds no digital entries; see what that means.
Reading a Mercedes-Benz service record
- Mileages should rise steadily. A reading lower than the one before points to a clocking or a data-entry error; compare with the MOT mileages on a free MOT check.
- Gaps between entries. Mercedes-Benz's schedule is ASSYST Plus: every 12 months or 15,500 miles (12,500 miles on AMG models); older ASSYST cars alternate A and B services; a longer gap usually means an independent garage did the work, which only appears if that garage uploaded it. Ask for invoices.
- Nothing before 2008. Earlier services may sit in a paper book or an older system that was never transferred.
- No records at all. Not the same as no service history — but treat a claimed "full Mercedes-Benz main-dealer history" with no digital entries as a red flag and ask the seller to explain it.
