Which cars have a digital service history? Manufacturers and years (UK)

Updated 5 November 2026 · 2 min read · by DealerPricing

Most premium and many mainstream manufacturers now keep the service history online instead of in a stamped book. DealerPricing reads the digital record for 20 makes, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Toyota and Land Rover. How far back it goes depends on when each brand went digital, from about 2005 (Mazda) to 2022 (Ford).

Years are approximate and some brands ran paper books alongside the digital record for a few years. Each make has its own page with how to read its record.

Step by step

  1. Find the make in the table

The table lists every manufacturer our service history check covers, with the brand's own name for its digital record and roughly when it replaced the paper book in the UK.

  2. Compare the year with the car

A car built after its brand went digital should have a digital record from new. An older car usually has early services in a stamped book and later ones online, so check both.

  3. Check the record by registration for £4.99

Enter the registration. We confirm the make is covered before you pay, then read the manufacturer's dealer network record and show each service with its date and mileage.

  4. Read the gaps

Compare the dates and mileages with the brand's service interval and with the MOT mileages. A missing year, or a mileage that jumps, is a question for the seller. Remember that some brands only record dealer work, so independent servicing may be on paper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my car has a digital service history?

If the car came without a stamped service book, or the book says services are recorded online, it almost certainly has one. Check the make and year against the table, or run the check: we confirm the make is covered before you pay.

Can I see the digital service history of a car I am buying?

Not through the manufacturer's owner app, which only shows your own car. A service history check reads the dealer network record by registration for £4.99, without the seller's login.

Why does the digital record start part-way through the car's life?

Because the brand moved from paper to digital after the car was built, or the early services were done somewhere that does not write to the record. Look for the paper book for the earlier years.

Do independent garages appear on a digital service history?

It depends on the brand. Volkswagen Group garages with the right licence and Mercedes-Benz independents using its trade portal can add entries; Ford and Jaguar Land Rover records are almost entirely dealer work. Independent work on other brands is usually on paper invoices.

My make is not in the table. Can I still check it?

Not with our service history check yet: we only list makes we have tested and can return records for. Ask the seller for the stamped book and invoices, and use the MOT history to check the mileage.

How long does a service history check take?

Most results come back within minutes. Some take longer while the dealer network replies, and we email the report when it arrives.
