How to see what similar cars actually sold for

Updated 3 September 2026 · 1 min read · by DealerPricing

On the DealerPricing dashboard, search a registration and switch the listing type to Sold. You then see comparable cars that left dealer forecourts in the last 90 days, with their final price, mileage and days listed. Sold prices show what buyers paid, which is a better guide than asking prices for both bids and forecourt pricing.

Step by step

  1. Search the registration on the dashboard

Enter the VRM and, if you know it, the mileage. DealerPricing decodes the exact make, model, variant, engine, gearbox and body style, then pulls every matching live listing.

  2. Switch to Sold listings

Open Adjust Filters and choose Sold under Listing Type. The table now shows cars that were listed and then removed as sold.

  3. Compare final prices and days listed

Sort by price to see the range achieved, and by days listed to see which prices moved quickly. Cars that sold in a week were priced right; cars that took 90 days were not.

What you’ll see

  • Sold comparables from the last 90 days
  • Final listed price, mileage, days listed and dealer
  • The spread between the cheapest and most expensive sale
  • Live listings alongside, so you can see today’s competition

Frequently asked questions

Where does the sold data come from?

From dealer listings that were tracked while live and then removed. The last recorded price is the sale price in most cases; a small number are withdrawals, which is why the median matters more than any single car.

Why are sold prices lower than asking prices?

Because listings are reduced over time and buyers negotiate. The gap between the live average and the sold average tells you how much room the market currently has.

Can I see sold prices without a subscription?

Sold and live comparables are part of the dealer dashboard. The free MOT check and history check do not include market prices.
