How to use DealerPricing from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor (MCP)

Create a token in Profile → AI assistants (Pro plans), add the DealerPricing MCP server to your assistant with the configuration shown there, and ask for a vehicle by registration. The assistant calls the same tools as the dashboard, one search per new registration comes off your monthly allowance, and the only paid tool, the vehicle history check, quotes £2.50 and waits for your confirmation.

Step by step

  1. Create a token

    In Profile → AI assistants, name the token after the assistant (for example "Claude Desktop"), choose full or read-only access and click Create token. Copy it straight away: it is shown once and stored hashed.

  2. Add the server to your assistant

    Copy the connector URL shown with the token. Claude (Desktop or claude.ai): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the URL, Add. ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced, then Connectors → Create with the URL and No authentication. Claude Code takes a one-line command; Cursor and Windsurf take the URL in their MCP settings.

  3. Ask for a vehicle

    "What should I bid for AB12 CDE at 48,000 miles?" returns the trade bands, retail benchmark, comparables and days to sell, with your remaining searches. Follow-ups on the same registration (comparables, specification, DP Retail, service history) are free once it has been searched this billing period.

  4. Confirm paid checks

    Ask for a vehicle history check and the assistant shows the £2.50 price and your balance first. It only runs the check when you say yes; a read-only token cannot run it at all.

  5. Revoke when done

    The profile shows when and from which client each token was last used. Revoke a token instantly if a device is lost or an assistant is no longer needed.

Frequently asked questions

Which plans include the MCP?

Pro 100 and Pro 200, including team members on their own Pro plan. Basic plans see an upgrade option; developer API customers get key-based access in a later release.

Do assistant searches use my allowance?

Yes, exactly as the dashboard: a registration not searched this billing period uses one search, and the same registration again is free. MOT history is always free.

Can the assistant spend my balance without asking?

No. The vehicle history check is the only paid tool, it quotes first and runs only after you confirm, and read-only tokens cannot run it. A report bought in the last six months is returned free.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. Turn on Developer mode (Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings; Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise plans), create a connector with the DealerPricing connector URL and No authentication, then enable it in a chat under + → More → Developer mode.

Is the connector URL safe to share with an assistant?

The URL contains your token and gives the assistant the same access as your login, so keep it private, use a read-only token where you do not need paid checks, and revoke it from your profile if in doubt. Every call is logged against the token.
