What sets the DealerPricing API apart
Four things a developer gets on the first day, before any spend:
- No monthly fee on pay as you go: top up from £10 and pay per successful call
- A free sandbox key with sample UK registrations for every endpoint, so you can build against the real response format
- Market data from live UK dealer listings: similar cars for sale, similar sold cars, the DP Retail valuation and market insights
- Manufacturer service history as one asynchronous call with a callback, £2.00 per completed search on pay as you go
How we compared
We read the public pricing pages of selected UK vehicle data APIs and took the rate a new customer can buy without a sales call: pay as you go, prepay or the entry tier. For each kind of data we show a provider only when its price for that data is higher than ours, judged on the figure it shows before any VAT. Providers that publish no prices are left out.
This page does not rank the whole market and does not claim the lowest price for every call. Volume tiers lower most providers' prices, so the gap can change at high volume. The table is re-checked monthly and the date at the top changes when it is.
The free official APIs
Two government APIs are free and cover basic data. If they are all you need, start there:
- DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service API: make, colour, fuel, engine size, CO2, tax status and due date, MOT status and export marker by registration. DVLA says it may add charges later with notice.
- DVSA MOT History API: every MOT test with result, mileage, failures and advisories, for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
- Neither returns finance, stolen or write-off records, valuations, market data or service history.
