Why has T.C. Harrison Ended Ford Sales and Joined the KGM Franchise at Stamford?

T.C. Harrison stops selling Ford at Stamford, partners with KGM and offers the Rexton, Musso EV and more – discover the reasons and new model range.

T.C. Harrison has officially joined the KGM dealer network at its Stamford site after ending new car sales for Ford at the location.

Historic family‑run dealer makes a strategic shift

Founded by Thomas ‘Cuth’ Harrison in 1931, T.C. Harrison is one of the UK’s longest‑established family‑run dealer groups. The business has held a Ford franchise since 1936, operating the Wharf Road showroom in Stamford for nearly nine decades. In December, the company announced it would cease Ford retail sales at the site – a decision linked to Ford’s ongoing reduction of its UK retail network.

What does the KGM partnership bring to Stamford customers?

From now on, the Stamford dealership will sell KGM Motors UK’s full range of cars and pick‑ups. The lineup includes the seven‑seat Rexton, the Musso pick‑up, the compact Korando and the urban Tivoli. Recent additions such as the Torres Hybrid, Actyon Hybrid, and the fully electric Musso EV and Torres EVX also feature, giving local buyers a broader selection of conventional and low‑emission models.

Service and after‑sales support remain strong

Although new car sales for Ford have stopped, T.C. Harrison will continue to operate as an authorised Ford repairer, offering servicing, MOTs, accident‑repair support and genuine parts for both Ford and the new KGM models. This dual capability ensures customers can rely on familiar service standards while exploring the new brand.

Financial performance and broader network

In the 2025 Car Dealer Top 100, T.C. Harrison ranked 16th and reported a pre‑tax profit of £4.85 million for the year ending 31 December 2024. The group’s footprint already includes sites in Burton, Derby, Peterborough, Huntingdon, Spalding and St Neots, alongside the newly rebranded Stamford showroom.

Industry reactions

Simon Oakley, regional head of sales (southern) at T.C. Harrison, said, “We’re all very excited to join the KGM dealer network. It is an exciting new chapter for us, and a partnership we will both benefit from.” KGM’s managing director, Kevin Griffin, added, “Their heritage, family ownership and strong reputation for customer care make them an excellent partner for the brand.”

Why did Ford reduce its UK retail presence?

Ford has been trimming its UK retail footprint, a trend that prompted long‑standing franchise holders like T.C. Harrison to reassess their brand affiliations. By switching to KGM, the Stamford site secures a fresh franchise while retaining its expertise as a Ford service centre.

What’s next for the Stamford showroom?

The dealership now promotes the KGM Rexton seven‑seater, the Musso pick‑up and EV models, positioning itself as a hub for both traditional utility vehicles and emerging electric options. Customers can expect the same level of service they have known for decades, now complemented by KGM’s expanding product portfolio.
