Warranty First has unveiled a redesigned range of repair plans aimed at giving UK dealers a more specialised choice of protection for their stock. The new portfolio reflects the evolving composition of the UK vehicle parc, separating cover by both vehicle type and fuel source.

What Repair Plans Does Warranty First Offer for Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid and EV Stock?

Five distinct families to match every segment

The updated suite is organised into five product families:

Journey – designed for conventional petrol and diesel cars as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
Drive – created for hybrid models, with an enhanced Drive+ option for higher‑voltage components.
Charge – dedicated to fully electric vehicles (EVs), also offering a Charge+ extension.
Ride – covering motorcycles and scooters.
Tour – aimed at motorhomes, campervans and other leisure‑motor vehicles.

Journey – petrol and diesel coverage

For internal‑combustion engine (ICE) stock, the Journey family is available in three tiers. Age and mileage dictate the level of protection, allowing dealers to match cover to the specific risk profile of each vehicle.

Drive – hybrid protection

Hybrid models fall under the Drive family. The standard Drive plan protects the hybrid drivetrain, regenerative‑braking system and hybrid transmission. An optional Drive+ tier extends cover to the high‑voltage battery and electric drive motor on qualifying models up to ten years old or 100,000 miles.

Charge – electric‑vehicle protection

Electric vehicles are covered by the Charge family. Core components such as the drive motor, charging apparatus, power‑delivery system and broader electrical architecture are included. The Charge+ add‑on expands protection to the high‑voltage battery, traction motor and power‑delivery components for eligible EVs.

Ride and Tour – two‑wheelers and leisure vehicles

Motorbikes are covered under the Ride family, while the Tour family provides repair‑plan options for motorhomes and campervans, recognising the distinct wear patterns of these leisure‑oriented vehicles.

Why the change matters for dealers

Leo Nelson, Director and Chief Marketing Officer at Warranty First, explained the rationale behind the overhaul: “The used vehicle parc has changed significantly but much of the warranty and repair‑plan market is still based on products created for a very different profile of stock. Different vehicles present different risks. A battery electric vehicle should not simply be treated as a petrol or diesel car with an additional component list. The same applies to hybrids, commercial vehicles, motorbikes and leisure vehicles.”

The new structure is intended to simplify product selection. By linking the product family directly to fuel type and using age and mileage to determine the tier, dealers can more quickly identify the most appropriate plan for each vehicle on their lot.
