Omoda and Jaecoo now offer a 7‑year/100,000‑mile warranty after expert criticism – see which components are covered.

Omoda and Jaecoo have announced a major upgrade to their UK warranty package, extending cover to seven years or 100,000 miles for a wide range of components.

The Chinese manufacturers say the change follows extensive feedback from customers, dealers and after‑sales partners. Previously, several items that drivers naturally expect to be covered – such as infotainment units, fuel pumps and starter motors – were limited to three years or 40,000 miles.

What has changed?

Under the new terms the following parts now benefit from the full seven‑year/100,000‑mile warranty:

  • A/C compressor
  • Alternator
  • Brake calipers
  • Catalytic converter
  • Infotainment unit
  • Exhaust system
  • Fuel injectors
  • Fuel pump
  • Oil pump
  • Shock absorbers
  • Starter motor
  • Track rod ends
  • Water pump
  • Wheel bearings
  • Window regulators

Bushes and other rubber components have also seen their protection lifted from three years/40,000 miles to seven years/60,000 miles, while ball joints now share the same seven‑year/60,000‑mile limit.

Crucially, the upgraded coverage is being applied retrospectively to every Omoda and Jaecoo vehicle sold in the UK since the brands’ launch, meaning owners of older models will also receive the extended protection.

Industry reaction

Warrantywise chief executive Lawrence Whittaker had publicly highlighted the shortfalls in the original warranty provisions, questioning why components normally covered by a manufacturer’s main guarantee were restricted to three years/40,000 miles.

In a LinkedIn post Whittaker welcomed the amendment, stating, “Credit where it’s due. Companies don’t always respond to customer feedback, but in this case Omoda & Jaecoo appear to have listened to both customers and the market.” He added that a stronger warranty benefits owners, retailers and the brand’s reputation, and he will be watching to see whether the change translates into higher customer satisfaction and long‑term reliability.

Brand perspective

Victor Zhang, managing director of Omoda and Jaecoo UK, explained the decision: “The UK is one of the most competitive automotive markets in the world, and from day one we’ve been committed to listening to our customers and continually improving the ownership journey. After two years of learning from our growing customer base and retailer network, we’ve reviewed our warranty offering and made it even stronger.”

He continued, “By extending cover on a wider range of components – and applying those changes to every Omoda and Jaecoo we’ve sold in the UK – we’re demonstrating our long‑term commitment to our customers while reinforcing our confidence in the quality, engineering and reliability of our vehicles.”

The update follows a broader industry trend of manufacturers extending warranty periods to build confidence in newer brands entering the UK market. For dealers, the longer warranty can be a tangible selling point when discussing Omoda or Jaecoo models with prospective buyers.

Dealers are encouraged to communicate the new coverage clearly, highlighting the specific components now protected for up to seven years or 100,000 miles. This level of transparency can help differentiate the Chinese marques from competitors and address any lingering doubts raised by earlier expert criticism.
