Can Mazda’s New Dealer Incentive Boost Accessory Sales by 60%?

3 min read

Mazda rolls out a dealer incentive to drive up to a 60% rise in accessory sales as it launches new models and expands its UK network.

Mazda launches a dealer‑focused incentive to lift accessory sales

In a move aimed at strengthening after‑sales profitability, Mazda has unveiled a fresh incentive programme for showroom staff. The plan targets a substantial increase – up to 60% – in the sale of accessories such as floor mats, boot liners, mud flaps, roof boxes, tow bars and bicycle carriers.

Why the push on accessories now?

According to Mazda Motors UK Managing Director Jeremy Thomson, the timing is strategic. With the introduction of the new 76‑plate in September, the brand sees an opportunity to generate additional profit for its dealer partners. "We have identified accessory sales as a strategic opportunity for our dealer partners to achieve incremental increases in after‑sales profitability, especially following the launch of the new 76‑plate," Thomson explained.

What makes Mazda’s accessories stand out?

Thomson highlights that Mazda’s accessory range is often priced below generic equivalents sold by third‑party retailers. Each item is engineered specifically for Mazda models and carries a longer warranty than most aftermarket options. This combination of fit‑for‑purpose design and extended warranty provides a clear selling point for showroom teams.

How staff are encouraged to sell accessories

The incentive scheme rewards salespeople who actively promote the accessory line. Mazda is urging staff to adopt a "lateral thinking" approach – engaging customers in conversations about their lifestyles and suggesting relevant accessories where appropriate. By doing so, the brand hopes to turn accessories into a stronger revenue stream for dealers.

Expected impact on dealer profitability

Thomson projects that, if the programme delivers as intended, dealers could see a 60% rise in accessory sales by the end of the year. This uplift would provide a solid financial base as Mazda prepares to launch three new models – the Mazda CX‑5, Mazda 6e and Mazda CX‑6e – across the UK market.

Broader growth plans for Mazda in the UK

Beyond accessories, Mazda is pursuing growth on several fronts. The brand has announced intentions to broaden its dealer network, with new representation being sought in Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Plymouth and Portsmouth. Simultaneously, the upcoming model releases are expected to bolster new‑car sales, complementing the anticipated accessory surge.

What this means for dealers and customers

For dealers, the incentive scheme offers a clear pathway to enhance profitability without relying solely on vehicle margins. For customers, the promise of accessories that are purpose‑built for their Mazda, priced competitively and backed by longer warranties, should make the purchase experience more compelling.

As Mazda pushes its accessory range and expands its footprint, the upcoming months – especially September, when the new registration plates take effect – will be pivotal in measuring the success of this ambitious strategy.
