3 min read

Arnold Clark will close its Inverness Renault and Dacia site on 30 June – learn the reasons, staff plans and impact on local customers.

Arnold Clark Announces Inverness Site Closure

Arnold Clark has confirmed that its Renault and Dacia dealership on Harbour Road, Inverness, will close on 30 June. The decision, announced by CEO Russell Borrie, follows a period of careful consideration by the group.

Key details of the closure

The Inverness outlet, which has been part of Arnold Clark’s extensive network of Renault and Dacia franchises, will cease trading at the end of June. The company has reassured the community that all services will be transferred to nearby Arnold Clark branches, ensuring continuity for existing customers.

What happens to the staff?

Russell Borrie told the Inverness Courier that the primary focus of the closure is the welfare of the team. "This was not a decision taken lightly, and our priority is to support our employees throughout this transition," he said. All colleagues will be offered new roles within Arnold Clark’s local branch network, meaning no staff member will be left without a position as the site shuts.

Arnold Clark’s broader Renault and Dacia footprint

At the time of the announcement, Arnold Clark operates 17 Renault dealerships and 16 Dacia dealerships across the UK, with the Inverness site being one of the locations in each network. The group’s extensive presence enables it to re‑allocate resources and maintain service standards despite the closure of a single outlet.

Impact on customers in the Highlands

Customers in Inverness and the surrounding area are being assured that their after‑sales support, warranty work and vehicle servicing will continue uninterrupted. The company is coordinating a smooth hand‑over to neighbouring Arnold Clark branches, which will take on the responsibility for pending jobs and future appointments.

Why the closure now?

While Arnold Clark did not disclose specific market drivers, the announcement highlights a strategic review of its dealership portfolio. Consolidating operations can help the group focus on profitability and service quality across its remaining sites.

Looking ahead for the network

Arnold Clark remains committed to offering a full range of Renault and Dacia models, as well as its own extensive new‑car and used‑car inventories. The closure of the Inverness site is presented as a single adjustment within a larger, stable network of 33 combined Renault‑Dacia locations.
