Is AION's Eight‑Year, 100,000‑Mile Warranty the Longest Deal in the UK?

3 min read

AION launches an eight‑year/100k‑mile warranty, matching Peugeot’s EV cover and outpacing most rivals. Find out how it compares.

AION, the new Chinese automotive brand, has announced an eight‑year or 100,000‑mile warranty on every new car it sells in the United Kingdom.

Why does warranty length matter to UK buyers?

Warranty commitment is a key factor when customers compare new‑car offers. A longer warranty reduces the perceived risk of ownership, especially for emerging brands that are still building trust among British motorists.

AION’s Great 8 Promise

The eight‑year cover is part of the so‑called “AION Great 8 Promise”. In addition to the standard warranty, the promise includes eight years of scheduled servicing, breakdown assistance and MOT cover for the same period. AION estimates that the combined package could save owners up to £2,900 over the life of the vehicle.

What the brand says

Jon Wakefield, managing director of AION Auto UK, explained the strategy: “There is lots of noise around Chinese cars at the moment, and it can be confusing for buyers to know who to trust. We are driving a new standard as we launch the AION V to customers, and a key part of that is complete transparency around the AION Great 8 Promise, including our warranty.”

He added, “With AION, eight‑year cover really does mean eight years. There will be no nasty surprises for our customers, and if any remedial work is needed, the parts are already in the country to get them back on the road as soon as possible.”

How does AION compare with other manufacturers?

For many years Kia has set the benchmark in the UK with a seven‑year or 100,000‑mile warranty as standard. Toyota has also offered a strong scheme, allowing owners who follow an authorised service schedule to extend coverage to up to ten years.

Peugeot’s “Relax” warranty, exclusive to its fully electric range, provides the same eight‑year or 100,000‑mile protection that AION now offers across its whole line‑up.

Other Chinese entrants – Jaecoo, Omoda and Chery – currently match Kia’s seven‑year, 100,000‑mile commitment, meaning AION is the first among its Chinese peers to move the bar to eight years.

What this means for the UK market

The introduction of an eight‑year, 100,000‑mile guarantee adds fresh competition to a segment that has traditionally been dominated by established Asian and European manufacturers. It also signals that Chinese brands are willing to invest in after‑sales support to win the confidence of British consumers.

For dealers, the extended warranty may become an additional selling point when presenting AION models alongside more familiar rivals. For buyers, the promise of eight years of coverage, servicing, breakdown and MOT assistance can translate into lower long‑term ownership costs and greater peace of mind.
