For those unfamiliar with his work, Ian is a true wizard behind the wheel and one of the most entertaining drivers you'll see on track. What Car Do You Drift?

"I drift a Nissan 350z," says Ian. While this might sound like a standard answer to the uninitiated, it's a choice rooted in performance and reputation. The 350Z has carved out a formidable position in the drifting scene for good reason—it offers a potent combination of power, style, and undeniable presence that looks impressive even when sliding sideways.

What Got You Into Drifting?

"A crazy Irishman from work," Ian laughs. Sometimes, that's all the explanation you need. If an Irishman introduces you to drifting, you can be sure it marked the start of a wild and passionate journey.

What Was Your First Drift Car?

Ian's first foray into drifting began with a true icon. "My first drift car was a Nissan Skyline R33," he recalls, with the fondness of someone remembering an old friend. "I really miss that car." It's a sentiment many enthusiasts will understand; the R33 Skyline is a legendary machine, and you never forget your first love, especially when it's a car of such calibre.

Best Piece of Advice For a First-Time Drifter?

Ian's advice for newcomers is refreshingly straightforward: "Don’t overthink it and keep it fun!" While drifting can seem intimidating at first, Ian champions a relaxed approach that prioritises enjoyment above all else, suggesting that not sweating the small stuff is key to mastering the art.

What’s Your Dream Circuit To Drift On?

Without hesitation, Ian exclaims, "Riga, baby!" For those in the know, Riga represents a drift paradise, a circuit where drivers can truly push their limits and tyres are sacrificed in the pursuit of perfection. It's the ultimate playground for drivers like Ian.

With An Unlimited Budget, What Car Would You Build For Drifting?

Given a blank cheque, Ian's dream build is both loud and powerful. "If I had an unlimited budget, I’d go for a 2-series BMW with a NASCAR or JUDD V8. Bring the noise!" It's a combination designed to deliver not just immense power but an unmistakable auditory signature that announces its presence long before it comes into view.

What’s Your Biggest Accolade/Best Experience In Drifting So Far?

Ian's face lights up as he recalls a standout moment. "The best experience has to be drifting with the NAPA touring car team. It was absolutely crazy being out on track with those guys and being asked to drift between all of the cars. Heaven!" Drifting alongside touring car legends is a rock-star moment that few get to experience.

What Can We Expect To See From You In The Drift Kings Competition?

For the upcoming competition, Ian is focusing on spectacle. "This year is all about fun and putting on a show," he says. "Expect high speed and backwards entries!" Fans attending can anticipate a display of fast, furious, and highly skilled sideways action.
